Age 88; longtime Glenview resident; 1937 graduate of Purdue U. with an engineering degree and the Naval Aviation School in Pensacola, Florida; stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise at Pearl Harbor, led first counter-strike on December 7, 1941, participated in the Battle of Midway, earning The Navy Cross, three Distinguished Flying Crosses, three Air Medals, the Gold Star and the Purple Heart; served under President Eisenhower at Columbia U. and a Naval Attache in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, served in the U.S. Navy a total of 26 years retiring from Naval Intelligence Center in Boston, Massachusetts; worked at Underwriters Laboratories as a test engineer for 10 years; active in church, Boy Scouts and recorded books for the blind - Date of Publication
