Age 77; born in Kansas City, MO and moved to Chicago's South Side in 1938; graduate of Mount Carmel H.S., 1944 graduate of U. of Michigan with a major in economics; commissioned as an officer in U.S. Navy in 1944; 1948 graduate of DePaul U.'s College of Law; worked as a trial attorney for companies that included Northwestern Railroad Co.; joined Meyers and Matthias law firm in 1959, formed O'Brien, Redding & Hyde in 1971; retired in 1999 but continued to counsel his firm; member of Illinois, Chicago and American bar associations; 45-year resident of Northbrook; preceded in death by two sisters, Mary V. Brown and Harriette Galvin
