Age 91; resident of Wilmette IL; born in New York City to William Remini and Lauretta Tierney Remini; graduate of Fordham U.; served as Lieutenant in U.S. Navy in Atlantic during WWII; Masters/Doctorate degrees in History from Columbia U.; married in 1948; taught at Fordham for 10+ years; became 1st Chair of Department of History at U. of Illinois-Chicago, later founded/chaired UIC Institute for Humanities; won National Book Award for Nonfiction in 1984 for biography of Andrew Jackson, authored official history of U.S. House of Representatives published in 2006; named Historian of U.S. House of Representatives in 2004; preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 2012
