Age 87; resident of Northfield, IL; born to Serbian immigrants in Chicago and grew up during the Depression on the North Side, age 5 father died of silicosis (respiratory disease from working Ananconda copper mines in Butte, MT); graduated at age 16 from Lane Technical H.S.; 1945 discharged from U.S. Army; worked through the ranks to become President and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Gillette North America, retired in 1979; served on Boards of Motorola Corporation, Eastern Gas and Fuel Company, New England Merchant's Bank, Advance Corporation of Cable & Broadcast Television; trustee of Massachusetts Eye and Ear Hospital and Eisenhower Medical Center in Palm Springs, director of Bob Hope Desert Classic; 1973 honorary doctorate in business administration from Curry College in Milton, MA; preceded in death by his first wife, Dawn in 1979
