Age 90; longtime resident of Glenview IL; born/grew up in Hreljin, Croatia (formerly Yugoslavia), father came to U.S. to work in copper mines in Minnesota; elder brothers barbers in Rogers Park, Chicago; 1936 at age 14 came to U.S., learned English at Joyce Kilmer School, underwent rigorous union apprenticeship in barber school; WWII served stateside in U.S. Army Air Corps as sergeant in communications; 1947 bought shop in Wilmette and got married; operated John's Barber Shop at Fourth Street & Linden Avenue for 55 years, retired in 2002; preceded in death by his brothers, Frank (Louise) and Matt (late Mary) Sobol - Date of Publication
