Age 74; lifelong resident of Evanston IL; great-grandson of Susan Pratt, first child born to settlers of Evanston; graduate of Evanston Township H.S., attended Ripon College and North Carolina State College, graduate of FBI Academy in Washington D.C. and Northwestern U. Traffic Institute (as faculty member taught courses around U.S.); enlisted in U.S. Army in 1942, injured in France in 1944/received Purple Heart, served as military policeman; joined Evanston Police Department in 1949, advanced to sergeant in January 1957 and lieutenant in 1962, head of traffic bureau and of planning & research division, received Outstanding Policeman of Year Award in 1958, retired in 1969 after 20 years of service; director of department of communications and security at Evanston Hospital, later director of engineering & security in 1972; after hospital, started business designing/manufacturing line of custom-made leather pager covers
