Survived by: wife, Claribel Yoss Young; two sons, Richard A. Young of Glenview and Harry A. Young of Northbrook; and four grandchildren, Steven, Melissa, Karen and Christopher.
Young, 89, a former Glenview resident, died in Woodstock, IL. He lived for many years in Olwein, Iowa and retired in 1966 as comptroller of the Chicago Great Western Railroad, now Chicago & Northwestern Transportation company. He was in railroading from the age of 16, first with the Milwaukee Road. He was the developer of early computerization uses for railroads and also developed coding and car scanning processes now used by all railroads. Reverend Roger Felson of St. Peter's United Church of Christ officated at funeral services. - Date of Publication
