Age 90; resident of Lake Forest IL; born on a farm in southern Ohio; 1936 won a scholarship to Vassar College, majored in physics, graduated Phi Beta Kappa; worked at Museum of Modern Art in New York; in WWII joined the Radiation Laboratory at MIT; 1944 married & moved to Winnetka IL; in 1960s wrote series of books on basics of physics, astronomy, geology & environmental sciences; 1973 published Power Over People; also wrote The Unfinished Universe, Sowing the Wind, Earth's Aura, Exploring the Universe, The Blue Planet, & Islands: Portraits of Miniature Worlds (published at age 80); at age 60 earned a Master's of Science degree in Geology at the U. of Chicago where she & her husband established a professorship in environmental science; preceded in death by her husband, Hobart - Date of Publication
