This is the first of a series of outâ€" door events planned by the troop for the coming weeks and as it is the first overnight hike for some time it Troop 33 Plans Hike Members of Troop 33, of the Linâ€" coln school are looking forward to an overnight hike to the Cabin in the Woods on Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27. C nc The Saturdayâ€"project put Troop 33 well along towards its goal of securâ€" ing the Civic Service award recently offered by the North Shore Area council. This is not the first time that Troop 33 has put over a civic "Good Turn." Many wilil remember that they turnâ€" ed out on a mobilization call in short order last January. On this occasion they assumed the job of shoveling the sidewalks free from slush on one of the most used sidewalk routes in town. f The scouts who helped make . the "Good Turn" successful are: Allan Benson, John Davidson, Robert â€"Fox, George Hinn, Joseph Klaber, Robert Rassniussen, Fred Reichardt, Denton Smith, Roderic Smith, Judson Wells, Frank Wichman, and George Zinglar. Lyman Benson, a member of the Boy Rangers, also helped on the project. The work, which was under the diâ€" rection of Scoutmaster Herbert R. Smith, progressed rapidly and by the middle of the afternoon the scouts had almost 100 per cent of the accuâ€" mulated rubbish cleaned away. Since the completion of the new building at the Lincoln school last fall there have been many odds and ends left around and these the scouts cleaned upâ€" as much as possible, They burned everything that it was possâ€" ible and safe to light and the balance they got together in piles where it could readily be picked up and taken away. * Twelve scouts of Troop 33, under the direction of their scoutmaster, turned out last Saturday and conâ€" ducted a clean up campaign on the Lincoln school grounds. j A regular feature prepared each All these troop awards will ‘be made at the beforeâ€"campâ€"rally about the middle of May.~= Growth of Troop 30 Troop 30 of the Elm Place school has trippled it‘s size in two months. It ‘has improved more in the last month than in any previous three months due to the work of Mr. Hawâ€" kins, McManus, Stevens, and Van Dyke. In addition they earned the advancement trophy for having over 25 per cent first class scouts and not over 40 per cent tenâ€" derfoot.. Friday night at the home of Scout John Krafft, our senior patrol leader. He has fitted us up with a furnished basement patrol> room with aâ€" big fire place.. The meeting started with some more code . signaling with the night flag, after which we used the flash light to signal. We then had a lively game of fox and goose. Reâ€" freshments were served and the reâ€" mainder of the time was spent writâ€" ing to a sick scout.â€"Ted Phillips Cobra Patrol, Troop 35. Members of Troop 30 are going to hold their meeting on the lake beach the tenth of April in order to pass tracking, scout pace etc: We _â€"_Highwood Troop Stunt Night __ Troop 36 had an exhibition on Friâ€" day night, Aprii 5. â€" We started with the flag ceremonies, knot tying, first aid, signaling, singing of a _ troop song. Then we had motion pictures. "Buster Brown" was one of them, the other "The Footer" â€" The money we made on it goes to buy flags and camp equipment. : For the last five weeks our troop has been having hikes. Dues have been paid up weekly. Whe have been paid up weekly. The games played were "kick the can" and "stalking." We also practised tacking. After the games, we practised fire building and ‘had a supper of steak. Last Saturday, the boys from Troop 30 ~went to the Cabin in the Woods. The leaders.present were Mr. Van Troop 30 of the Eim Place school held a meeting April 3, in charge of Mr. Hawkins and Mr. St. Peter. These were very educational and interest‘ ing, having been taken by Mr. Irvin Plagge, scout executive of DeKalb county, who understands scout life, and the ‘things fascinating to boys. Every ~one enjoyed â€"the picturas of nature, as well as those which showâ€" ed ~all the scouts, new scouts and others, in scout activity. Seeing the pictures made stronger scouts and more loyal ones I‘m sure. Our thanks go to Mr. 1. The opening ceremonials conâ€" sisted of line formation and the scout have decided to hold many of our regular troop meetings on the beach.
