With the opening of banks for busiâ€" neoss Wednesday morning the nationâ€" wide scramble began to acquire some of the new, attractive, unfamiliar curâ€" rency which, within a few months, will replace the long familiar, much larger paper money now in circulaâ€" tion: throughout the country. \â€" With about 912,000,000 pieces alâ€" reaiyâ€"printed, thetreasury is preâ€" pared to meet the "curiosity" demand, but only toâ€"a‘ limited extent ‘because of the big problem of distribution. _ â€" This change in currency, which is to be completed in about a year, is the first undertaken by the governâ€" ment since 1861 and is expected to reduce the cost of mateérials, printâ€" ing, â€"storage and distribution about $£1,500,000+a year. * * Only limited amounts of the new currency in denominations from $1 to $20 have been made available to the banks for distribution so far.
