Wisconsin Ready to Widen: ~"Th> state of Wisconsin is preparâ€" ed to begin operations widening the highway as far as «Milwaukee when and if. Illincis proceeds to widen to the state line. The two projects would mean a ‘straight run of 90 miles over a four lane road and would constitute the longest highway of this width in America. An effort to induce Gov. While application of the tax will not meet with favor in Lake ‘counâ€" ty, residents. of this county will} fare better under the tax than those in most other counties in the state for the reason that much of the money to be paid for gasoline in this counâ€" ty will be expended by visitors. Oneâ€"third of the amount collected will be returned to. Lake county to be used for road building and mainâ€" tenance purposes. Entertain Press Club = â€" Tuesday. at Sky Harbor ~â€" Lake county with the possible exâ€" ception of Cook county attracts more visitors from outside its confines than any other county in Illinois. . Thouâ€" sands of automobiles come into the county every day, many of them tourists who pass through on imporâ€" tant highways but the most of them headed for lakes in this county. It is estimated that taxes paid by these visitors will represent at légdst oneâ€" thirfd of the total collected in the county. j . As a result Lake county will reâ€" ceive many thousands of dollars more than its residents have spent. . _A buffet supper and bridge party will be held at the Briergate Golf club this evening (Thursday).
