Legion Posts Asked to Support C. M. T. C. in Present Campaign Thursday, March 20, 1930 American Legion posts are requestâ€" ed by James F. Barton, national adâ€" jutant, to lend their early support to the Citizens Military Training camp procurement campaign which will be underway _ throughout _ the . United States by March 1, says a bulletin from the national headquarters of the Legion at Indianapolis. "The C. M. T. C. movement, the outgrowth of the internationally recâ€" ognized Plattsburg camps, is an imâ€" portant phase of national defense adâ€" vocated by the Legion," said National Adjutant Barton. "The Legion has been instrumental in procuring. a large part of. the enrollment in the C. M. T. C. in the past. "President Herbert Hoover has inâ€" dorsed the C. M. T. C. as affording an ‘exceptional opportunity ‘ to the young men of the country for a trainâ€" ing which leads to vigorous health, physically, mentally and morally, Exâ€" President Calvin Coolidge has aptly termed the Citizens‘ camp "essential schools in citizenship.* Such camps are indorsed â€" widely by intelligent leaders of every politicaland religious faith throughout the country as a practical ~means of developing our youth in the wholesome surrourfdings of outdoor living â€" Many Ways< to Aid "There are many definite ways that Legion posts â€"may support the C, M. T. C. movement, as indicated by past experience. â€" Virtually all Legion deâ€" partments appoint a state C. M. T. C. officer who coâ€"operates with the auâ€" thorities in charge of the movement. County and post C. M. T. C. officers are then appointed by the Legion to effect a closer coâ€"operation,. Allotâ€" ments of ‘candidates are made to the individual Legion posts by the state headquarters. The post proceeds to obtain this allotment of boys who will enjoy the bpnefit:of the camps. Units of the Auxiliary have aided the Leâ€" gion posts materially in supplying names of prospective candidates, { Lake County Hospital Reduces Its Operating Expenses in 3 Months During the last three months the Lake County General hospital has opâ€" erated for $4,392 less than it did in the corresponding quarter a year ago according to a report submitted to the county board of supervisors last definite ways that support the C, M. indicated by past Theâ€" actual operating expense was $18,781 against $23,236 for the months of.
