But there were no schools dedicated last Thursday, for as the horizon dimmed â€" into â€" evening, <Francis G. Blair, state superintendent of schools, U.‘J. Hoffman, state supervisor of rural schools, and T. A. Simpson, the county superintendent of schools, finâ€" ally dug themselves out with the aid of a team of horses, and turned back to Waukegan. .‘The stranded trio, who had promâ€" ised that on yesterday they would conduct the ceremonies of dedicating three Lake county schools into the superior rating, made every effort to keep their important engagement, but their carnest zeal was thwarted by the raging snow storm. Their schedule was to take them to Oakwood school east of Antioch at 1:30 o‘clock, to the Millburn school at 3:00 o‘clock, and to the Saugatuck school in the evening. Superinten» dent Simpson was advised by County Highway Commissioner R.. M. Lobâ€" dell that the only school which might be reached was that at Millburn, the roads to the other two being completâ€" ly barricated by the storm. Later advices reported the road to Millâ€" burn closed as well, so the educators decided to venture on their original schedule, setting out before noon for Antioch. They made slow progress in Simpâ€" son‘s car, against a blinding blizzard, but it was not until they reached Lamb‘s Corners that they were forced to give up the trip.
