Bishop Stamm Speaks at Bethany Church Thursday, April 10, 1930 Palm Sunday will bea day of spe cial festivity at the Bethany church. A year ago on April 14 the beautiful church edifice located'on the corner of Laurel avenue and McGovern street was dedicated as a place of worship by the members and friends of the Bethany church. They look back over the year that has slipped by, with a great deal pf satisfaction. They are happy over the many achievements that have been attained in every de- partment of the work of the church. The coming Sunday has been set aside as a special day of celebration to commemorate the first anniversary of this flne new church building. Bi- shop J: S. Stamm of Kansas City, Mir. has been secured as the special guest speaker for the day. He will speak at both the 11 a. m. and the 7:45) p. m. services. Bishop Stamm is the youngest bishop of the Evangelical church. He is a man of wide experi- ence. He has not only gained prom- inence in the work of his own denom- ination, but has been rendering very valuable service on several important commissions in the Federal Council of Churches of America. Bishop Stamm has been an outstanding leader in church administration for a num- ber of years. He was elected to the high offiee of bishop of the Evangelical church during the year 1926. Prior to his elevation to the Episcopaey he held the chair of Philosophy and Sys- temutie Theology at the Evangelical Theological seminary, Naperville, Illi- noim, He has gained the reputation of being a profound thinker and a great preacher.
