Excavations will be conâ€" ducted on sites of prehistoric Indian cultures ‘and. collections will be sought for addition to the museum exhibits relating to the earliest Americans. The leader of the expedition is Dr; Paul S. Martin, assitsant curator in charge of North American archaelogy at the museum. He will have a full complement of assistants and diggers for the excavation work. Reconnaisâ€" sance work in the region has already been performed by Dr. Martin, who was there last year. About three months will be spent in the field. In addition to artifacts representing different stages of the early cultures, photographs and variâ€" ous other data will be sought for use as guides in carrying out plans for building at the museum restorations of pueblo houses, burial mounds, a kiva, a Casas Grandes ruin and other typical manifestations of the manner of life typical of the peoples of the southwest from about 1,0000 to 3,000 years ago.
