Pluck of Aged Clerk Saves Cash in Round Lake Store Holdup Unexpected arrival of n restaurant caretaker and the pluck of a 60-year- old clerk saved $500 last week for Peterkort market at Round Lake. Joseph Luby. the clerk, was doing his daily chores at the market when three men entered the place, One of them pointed a revolver at Luby and ordered him to turn over the money to them. "Shoot an old man if you want to," Luby answered. "I won't tell you where the money is." The bandits had been in the market for ten minutes, trying to wheedle the $500, which was hidden, from Luhy when they heard a woman’s footsteps. They became alarmed and dashed out of the market just as the restaurant caretaker arrived at the market. Lake county's milkmaids will com- pete for the county milking cham- pionship at the farmer's picnic on August'ZR at the Model Farm, lg- cording to H. C. Gilkerson, county farm adviser. Lake Co. Milk Maids in Contest Is Plan The winner in the county contest will be sent to the state contest to be held in Lincoln Park, Chicugo, early this fall, where maids will milk for the honor of representing Illinois in the national contest.
