Mary Baker Eddy, the Dis- coverer and Founder of Christian Sci- ence, speaks in the Preface of her lit- tte book, "No and Yes," ip. ht of "those who are Ithirst for the life- giving waters of I true divinity," and invites them to " 'Come ttnd drink'; and if you are babes in Christ, leave tht men. and take the unadulterated milk of the World, until you grow to apprehend the pure spirituality of Truth." Like the water from the ingendlry well, these “life-giving waters uf 1 true divinity" will cause another living spring to leap forth in every receptive heart, until " last the derert of human experience, parched by fear and sirr and ignorance of God, ",all be transformed and shall "hlos, - m as the rose." understanding. The Christian world believes that God is omniscient, omnipresent and omnii potent. Indeed, pure monotheism de., mands that God be nothing less than all-knowing, ever-present, and all-pow. erful. Infinite divine Mind, only, can fulfill these requirements. All mono. theists believe that God is selt-ex, istent. In fact, He wuuld not be the tirst great cause if this were not true. Gnd, then, can properly be considered as Principle or Life, that eternal self- (xistent Lite from which all life is derived. The apostle John tells us that God in Love. God could not bu sold-existent Life, if He were not also divine Love, fur even the slightest ele- ment of hate would, if it had any place in the Mind which is God, pre- vent Him from being self-existent Life, for hate is destructive. The Mind which is Gud is therefore divine Love, containing within Himself. no element of evil. God, being selbex. istent divine Mind, which includes al' reality, can also rightly be called Truth. This definition is not only reasonable. but practical, and Christian Scientists use at least some part of it as a basis for thinking out every problem which came-e up in their daily lives.
