A motorcade of state and county leaders left Waukegan in the mornâ€" ing and made a circuit of 13 cities and villages before returning to the county building at 7:30 for a mass meeting. State‘s Attorney in Report of Fines Gives Figures For 9 Years Fines totalling $13,158.50 were colâ€" lected by State‘s Attorney A V. Smith from Jan. 27 to Aug. 26 from persons arrested in vice raids during that period, according to the report filed with Judge Edward D. Shurtleff and on record in the circuit court. In addition to the fines assessed by justices of the peace, $455 was charged for fees, making a total of $13,613.50. State records show that the amounts received by Lake county during Col. Smith‘s term of office are the largest of any county in Illinois, cxcept Cook county, The charges on which these fines were mainly for violation of the proâ€" hibition law, disorderly conduct and assault and battery. All of the fines received by Col. Smith have been placed with County Treasurer Jay B. Morse, making a total of $472,000 in the nine years he has been state prosecutor.
