Thursday, October 23, 1930 The Epworth league gives a social party to the members and other young people of the church this week Thursâ€" day evening in the social rooms of the church. The committee in charge guarantees an evening of wholesome fun and "eats." Highland Park Methodist Church North Ave. at Lauretta Place Rev. Frank D. Hopkins, Minister Next Sunday morning the pastor will use as his theme the "Older Brother" in what is known as the parâ€" able of "The Prodigal Son." The proâ€" digal himself was the subject of study last Sunday but this older brother, with his peculiar attitude toward his father and the young scapegrace will repay consideration and is rarely given more than a passing reference. Here again we will discover some very keen‘applications to present day hfe and thinking; and not in the world but in the church. At next Sunday morning‘s service there will be the installation and recâ€" ognition service of the newly elected officers of the Church school, the Laâ€" die‘s Aid and the Women‘s Foreign Missionary society. The officers of the Epworth League were installed by the pastor last Sunday night but will also receive recognition at this service. 8 The Ladies Aid holds a bakery sale of good things to eat at the Laeâ€" gcler Drug Store next Saturday foreâ€" noon.. Home made pies, cakes, rolls, doughnuts, . etc., will be. offered to all comers as long as they last. Our Church school is showing a fine "come back" after the summer slump and promises to steadily inâ€" crease in attendance and interest unâ€" der the Jleadership of our superintenâ€" dent, Wm. H.
