Courthouse Burned 55 Years Ago Mrs. Bess Dunn, head of the Lake County Historical society and deputy probate clerk, recalled last week that it was 55 years ago October 21 that the old Lake county courthouse burnâ€" ed down. From then on until 1878, the records show, the county business was conducted from several different rented offices.
