Thursday, Dec. 18, 1930 Expresses Appreciation for Opportunity Given to Hear Great Oratorio I want to offer my grateful thanks to the Woman‘s club for the opporâ€" tunity they gave us to hear the great music of "The Messiah" on Friday evening last. I had felt a little reâ€" luctant to go to the performance for I could not believe it possible to have it adequately given to us, and I want to express my appreciation of the finâ€" ished performance, of the selections chosen. It was a dignified performâ€" ance under the leadership of an exâ€" cellent conductor, with a body. of singers exceedingly well trained. I had heard the Oratorio more than once, entire, at the usual Christmas performance of the Handel & Haydn society in Boston and wondered if I should not miss. much of the performâ€" ance, and I want to say not once in the past did I enjoy more than was given to us on Friday evening. My husband, when a member of the Bosâ€" ton society had sung the Oratoris seven times in Boston and later more times in Chicago.. It will interest those who sang for us to know that one one of these occasions the lights failed and without a moments hesitaâ€" ‘tion the singers and players went on, until the lights were again burning. I was especially moved by the splendid chorusâ€""He Shall Be Called Wonderful, Councilor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of. Peace." It was very fine and compelling. May I use again the word dignified, the rendering .of this great work of Handel written some hundred or more Tune in on WMAQ every Thursday Night at 7:45 p.m. and hear the Royal Blue Birds & in a delightful Royal Blue program We Guarantee Everything We Sell GREEN BAY ROAD and N. Millhouse of the state department of mines and minerals. The record shows that 155 mines in 28 counties produced 5,233,â€" 946 tons of coalâ€"which exceeds the average for previous months in 1930 by more than one million tons. The output is still below the 1929 producâ€" ticn. There were 175 mines in operaâ€" tion in October, 1929. The mines worked on an average of 18 days durâ€" ing the week, slightly more than in October last year. There were ten fatalitiesâ€"one for each 523,394 tons of coal produced. It Most motorists believe that if their cars should be burned or stolen, their insurance company will pay them the amount stated in the policy. The fact is, howâ€" ever, that the amount named in the policy is a valuation used to determine the cost of the insurance, the rate for fire and theft insurance being a certain price per hunâ€" dred dollars of valuation. The policy says that in the event of a total loss you will receive an amount not to exceed the actual loss sustained, the settlement to be agreed upon by you and the adjuster for the insurance company. If you fail to agree, the claim will be arbitrated. This is the usual policy, which is known in the insurance world as the "non valued" form. is understood that lindm for this booklet places me under no obligation. Then there is the "valued form" ;;olicy. Under the terms of this policy you are paid the face value of the policy, the amount on which you have paid premâ€" ium, should you sufferâ€"a total loss.
