Kelleyâ€" Roosevelts Expedition to Eastern Asia for Field Museum. ~_ Rarest of Animals The giant panda is one of the rarâ€" est, and possibly the rarest, of all the world‘s larger mammais. One of the specimens in the museum group was trailed and shot by the Roosevelt brothers themselves along the Tibeâ€" tan border, and it is the only one on record: ever seen alive and shot by a white man. With their trophy, the Roosâ€" evelts brought back the animal‘s skelâ€" eton, the only one ever brought out of Asia. This skeleton is also preâ€" served in the muesum‘s study collecâ€" tions, and, accordingto Dr. Wilfred II. Osgood, curator of zoology, is of international interest to zoologists beâ€" cause of its scientific value in the problem of ascertaining by anatomical study the animal‘s true position and relationships in systematic mammalâ€" ogy.
