Thursday, Dec. 25, 1930 comes on Christmas Day, we are goâ€" ing to hold our meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 30. John Johnson was elected troop treasurer and we all agreed that we would pay 25 cents a month as dues. TROOP 48 COLLECTS MANY COAT HANGERS Last night, Dec. ‘9, all the scouts of Trocp 48 except Fred Schroeder attended the meeting. The meeting could not be held at the American Legion hall because it was being used as a post office, so we had the meeting in the ‘Halsey school basement. At 7:30 the meeting began. All had colâ€" lected coat hangers. The Wolf Patrol had 1,025 hangers and the Black Bear had 510 hangers. Mr. Roeber said he would give us all till Monday, Dec. 22 to try and get some more. A little time was taken to tie fifty hangers to a bundle. After the hangers had been attended to we all went outside to play "Capture the Flag." The ground was slippery so it was hard to run and fight on. The game soon ended though for the Wolf Patrol got the Black Bear Patrol flag, and noâ€" body knew how it happened. After the game we went inside again, Soon after that we wore dismissed by Mr. Roeber. After we had played a few games we had a scout spell down and we had some pretty hard questions. Robert Ginter was the winner of it. The meeting opened with the scout cath; after that we had a quiz, We then played games. The meeting opened with a few drills and some of the new scouts were passed on their tests, George Ashman and Edward Cazel received merit badge cards, Ed Cazel becomâ€" ing a life scout. * The meeting broke up about 9 p.m. with two stories and the scout beneâ€" diction.â€"Dan Wolterding, Troop 51, Deerfield school. A Stags Challenge Otters The regular meeting of Troop 52 was held on Friday evening in the basement of the Presbyterian church. We had some marching practice and then the Stag patrol challenged the Otters to a game of "Steal the Bacon" which the Otters won. We went to patrol corners and our patrol reports were made out. Felâ€" lows who had found needy families told all they could about them and a box was packed for each family. Council Advancement Awards Many troops in the North Shore Area council have been awarded scoutâ€" vancement awards. This award is given each quarter to those troops who at the end of the quarter have at least 25 per cent of their scouts of First Class rank, and not more than 40 per cent of tenderfoot rank. The troop is working on a one act play which will put on at the Lake Forest Hobby Show in about March, The scouts of the troop are also planning to have a good hobby exhibit at the show and plan a real ticket campaign for our troop. â€"Robert Anderson, Troop 46, Presâ€" byterian church, Lake Forest. . Instruction in Ice Sailing We assembled at. 7. _ We played games until about 8. Then we had the scout oath and law. Mr, Brush asked us to explain what the differâ€" ent laws meant. We had with us Mr. Riddle who is a member of the troop committee, Mr. Riddle has two sons who are members of the troop. He is very much Inâ€" terested in ice sailing. He brought a sail and set it up and told us how to make one. He also showed us how to get different speeds and how to stop in case of emergency.
