If the man is alive, they can only tsifiliate with the auxiliary when he is a member of the Legion. His mem- Cership makes it possible for them to join this wonderful organization of women and to take a part in the constructive prognm of the Ameri- can Legion. _ As the Legion auxiliary grows-to larger proportions and assumes greater importance in the every day life of the community, it becomes nec- essary to have all the women in our ranks who are eligible, and who wish to participate in our dual purpose 'of helping the disabled WJr veteran and of performing unselfish service in the community. A special invitation is not needed to join the auxiliary. Any woman whose father, brother, husband or son is a World war veteran and a member of the American Legion is eligible to membership. We need help- in com- munity work, and even more do we need help in our work ut the Great Lakes hospital, We are taking care” Inf a unit there with 30 beds in it which are ti;lvd practically all the time, and while the hospital furnishes the bare necessities the men look for- ward to the visits from the women with their gifts of cigarettes, candy, magazines. etc., and they like to feel that we women have not forgotten the work they did. Any woman who is interested in joining our auxiliary may communi- cate with any of our members, and an application blank will be sent her immediately. The dues are only two dollars a year, a small amount. which does a great deal of ituod.--Mt's. W. B. Zimmer, unit president. . The regular monthly meeting of the Lake County council of American Legion will be held Friday evening of this week in North Chicago, and delegates will be present from prac- tically all of the posts of the country, including Highland Park.
