Mayer Repudiates Story That He Seeks Political Control in Lake County Ernest Mayer, Highland Park resâ€" ident and well known broker, says that the story which appeared in the North Shore edition of the Chicago Herald & Examiner, Feb. 23, and in Waukegan newspapers of the same date, under the heading, "Ernest Mayer Seeks Control of G. O..P. Comâ€" mittees," or words to such effect, is without foundation in fact. He deâ€" clares that he did not make any such statement _ and most â€" emphatically states that he does not want control â€"of any committee, nor is he seeking \my political office and would not acâ€" cent same if offered to him on a silver iny political office and would not acâ€" cept same if offered to him on a silver platter. _ But, Mr. Mayer says, he did say that ‘he is interested in the welfare of Lake county, as well as that of the entire government and stands ready and is eager to lend his moral and financial.support to any individual, or group of men who are representing the best interests of the community at large. Mr. Mayer says further that he, himself, is an independent, and will support the best men at all times, regardless of their. political affiliaâ€" tions. Thursday, Feb. 26, 1931
