Chalmers, member of the institution‘s board of trustees, it was announced today by Stephen C. Simms, director of the museum. The crystal has the form of a somewhat flattened taperâ€" ing hexagonal prism. It is three feet two inches long, and has a diameter of two feet at the base, the widest part. Homeless Cur Blamed For Most Rabies Cases * by Health Department /The homeless cur that knows no master‘s voice is chiefly responsible for spreading rabies in Illinois accordâ€" ing to a statement issued at Springâ€" field, by the state health department, pointing out that this disease reaches peak prevalence during the early summer and that a considerable inâ€" cidence of rabies now exists in Illiâ€" nois. To date this year the departâ€" ment of health has provided the Pasteur treatment for 182 dog bitten people and has examined in the labâ€" oratory 158 dog heads for rabies. "The stray, ownerless dog is the reservoir of infection in the perpetuaâ€" tion ofâ€"rabies" â€"said ~theâ€"statesment. "He not only gives rabies to the home dogs but he bites nearly as many people as do dogs with an established home. He travels much farther and infects more domestic animals than do the home dogs. the prevalence of mad dogs and rabies is considerable in the state now. During the last 30 days the state department of health has providedi the Pasteur treatment forâ€"62 people who had been Ditten by raDbid dogs. Within the same period, 48 dog‘s heads have been examined for rabies in the department laboratories. Since January 1, no less than 182 Pasteur treatments ~have ~been â€"furnished ~to dog bitten citizens and 158 dogs heads have been examined in the labâ€" oratories of the department of health.
