It was held each period. This is the first year they have had the track meet and it has turned out a big success. The villages competed against each other in the different, events. The third period Shawnee won the meet, Cheyenne placed second, Delaware third and Blackfoot last. ° This would not have been a success had it not been for the helpers. They were Howard Copp, Jim Mooney and Buck Wise. Last week the camp turned out for a big treadure hunt. ‘The teams were Delaware and Blackfoot against Cheyenne and Shawâ€" nee. We walked around the lake and reâ€" ceived our messages from the signal tower on the hill back of camp. â€" Delaware and Blackfoot took the south trail while Cheyâ€" enne and Shawnee took the north trail The north trail went back mcross the lake and out Whipâ€"Poorâ€"Will Trail to Route 55. It went around 55 to ‘the old railrond bed and out Whipâ€"Poorâ€"Will Trail to Route 59. It went around 55 to ‘the old railrond bed and through a swamp ‘back! to camp. Cheyenne ind Shawnee won the hunt bringing back eleven of the thirteen notes. The treasure was watekmelons,. . The winâ€" ning villages wot two watermelons apiece while the locsers got but one apiece. Boy Scout sHAWNEE BLAST During the third period at Camp Maâ€"Kaâ€" Jaâ€"Wan the Shawnee Village was composed of eight Waukegan Scouts and Troop 30 of Highland Park and Troop 52 of Deerâ€" field. Our village leader was John Derby. and he was ably aswisted by Scoutmaster . Jim Russell of Troop452. During the third period the rival schools of Waukegan and Deerfield (both had repâ€" resentatives at camp) combined and fought as one village very: harmoniously and took the track meet. . Wally Reeds, Don Anderâ€" son and Charles Stanger were stars with a combined total of 21 points besides some thirds we also received. Thursday night we were all saddened _ by the loss of the universal‘‘"Whitey" Goodale who had to return on account of the illness of his mother. We sure missed him. We hate to leave but now we have to and we shall be back next year for a bigirer if l not a better time. resentatiy ns one vi the track son and sAPETY ON THE WATERFRONT In all of Maâ€"Kaâ€"Jaâ€"Wan‘s six years of exâ€" stance not one life has been lost nor has iny serious nccident vecured on the water ront. _ The Waterfront director for this jour was Dick Wichman and he had two vory able assistants in "Scotty" McePherson ind Jimmy Lytle, and George <Hinn took aure of canoeing classes.
