Co., 47 8. 1ary 21 Relief Commission ‘May Open Employment : Office Here Soon Belief that the free employment office may be opened in Highland Park was expressed at the meeting of the Deerfield Township Board held last Friday evening, by Mr. William Kirkham, chairman of the Lake County Board of the Illinois Emerâ€" gency Relief Comission. . _ It is possible that the office, if opened, may be the agency for emâ€" ployment on the public works proâ€" gram of the President, which is to take the place of direct relief. . . ‘With the expiration of the Illinois Emergency Relief Commission, a great deal of the relief now being administered . through Government funds will again fall upon various local agencies which have, for some time, â€" been relieved ofâ€" the burden. According to government. figures, ‘the amount thus returned would be only 20 per cent, as they consider that 80 per cent of the people now on relief are employable, and will be put on the public works program.
