Two former students of the Highâ€" land Park high school, Bernice Kurtzon ‘36 and Jean McPherson ‘36, are included in the homor list of the University of Illlinois, FRESHMEN PLAN FOR BIG SOCIAL EVENT The soloists and ensembles who participated in the state contest were all fated first division in the district contest. Along with the others on the list, these students will receive formal recognition of their scholarship recâ€" ords in a ceremony taking place April 30. They rank in the highest ten per cent of their class. Don‘t forget your dance on Friâ€" day, Aprilâ€"80, at 8:80 in the girls‘ gym. ‘The admission fee is 20¢ a couple. Only freshmen may attend and stags will not be admitted. FORMER STUDENTS HONORED AT U. OF L Les Rankin, saxaphone soloist, and the horn quartet were rated in second division. Although placing in the first division, the woodwind quintet did not receive a national recommendation. At the district contest, April 10, at the Maine Township high school, Dorothy Utpadel and Robert Lundin, cornet soloists, Shirley Ritzenthaler and Arthur Pier, clarinetists, were awarded second ‘division ratings. One member of each couple must be enrolled at the Highland Park high school. The other member may be a graduate, a former student of the Highland Park high school, or a member of the Lake Forest high school. The dancing will begin at 8:30 and end at 12, but it is as yet unâ€" decided as to whether it â€" will be a program dance or not. Nobody will be admitted after 9 p.m., and anyâ€" body leaving the dance will not be permitted to .return. As there are only 110 tickets being sold, boys are urged to buy their tickets as early as possible from Alan Bede, Walter â€"Stuenkel, Aldie Harris, Pete Wolff,,Bud Lovâ€" ing, Whitt Schults, Hank Wilder, Jim Crawford, Marshall Johnson, Dick Thorsch, and Art Hoffman.
