Two distinct Ford Vâ€"8 cars, difâ€" fering in appearance, appointments and price, were presented. One was the de luxe Ford Vâ€"8, the other the standard Ford Vâ€"8. . The standard car is designed for owners to whom economy in first cost and operating cost is paraâ€" mount. The de luxe car provides added luxury and style for those who desire them. Both cars have the same Vâ€"8 chassis. . The eight de luxe types are available only with the 85 horseâ€" power Vâ€"8 engine, the three standâ€" ard types with either the 85 horseâ€" power or the 60 horsepower. The de luxe car is a stylish sisâ€" ter of the standard. It is entirely new in appearance. The radiator grille is of new design. Appearâ€" ance of the hood is longer and more sweeping. Fenders are massive. Interior appointments are in keepâ€" ing with the styling of the exterior. Substantially more room in the closed sedans, greater passenger comfort and much larger luggage space are provided. An advance showing of 1938 Ford Vâ€"8 cars and trucks opened this afâ€" ternoon at the Ford Metropolitan showrooms at 1710 Broadway, New York City. The standard Vâ€"8 cars reveal new styling, with a different radiator grille design, long hood and flowing contours. The spacious interiors are roomy and attractively upholâ€" stered and appointed. A new group of "oneâ€"tonner" trucks also is offered, in addition to the 112â€"inchâ€" commercial cars and the 134â€"inch wheelbase trucks. Chevrolet Sets New _ High 1938 Sales Quota specifically to bridge the gap beâ€" Officials ‘of the General Motors Corporation have elected to sponsor the Chevrolet Division for 1938, to give special attention to the plans and programs of the largest unit of the corporation and to aid Chevrolet in every possible way during the coming year to attain its objective of new car and truck sales. "This year‘s quota is the highest sales quota ever undertaken by any diâ€" vision of General Motors." A. P. Sloan Jr. and W. S. Knudâ€" sen, chairman of theâ€"General Moâ€" tors Board, and President, respecâ€" tively, have communicated with the more than 300,000 shareholders of the corporation, telling why Genâ€" eral Motors is officially sponsoring Chevrolet for the new model year that started this week with the opâ€" ening of the New York Automobile Show. They complimented M. E. Coyle, Chevrolet general manager, and W. E. Holler, general sales manager, for the large growth of the comâ€" pany during the past four years and pointed out that Chevrolet is now a millionâ€"carâ€"perâ€"year‘ company with sales of 1,015,000 for 1937 and 1,â€" 168,000 for 1936. â€" "What Chevrolet does in any givâ€" en year," said Sloan, "is of vital importance, not only to General Moâ€" tors and the Chevrolet Division, its dealers and retail salesmen, but alâ€" so to business in general, for Chevâ€" rolet‘s operations are so large and extensive as to have a marked inâ€" fluence.on the welfare and the lives of millions." Knudsen stressed service to pubâ€" lic through the Chevrolet dealers, as To take large seasonal orders for our exâ€" clusive California Delicacies. No soliciting. "In its unique position as the leadâ€" er in the lo wâ€"priced field," he said, "I know that the Chevrolet Division will accept the challenge that leadâ€" ership brings, namely, maintaining its leadership in service to the pubâ€" lic through the Chevrolet dealer orâ€" ganization." Safety education is a very imâ€" portant item in our schools today. It should be taught to all classes. Teaching or, preaching safety, howâ€" ever, is not enough. If the only thingâ€"a child gets out of safety education is a bundle of facts he can recite to the teacherâ€"or visitors, I don‘t believe we have taught him a thing. He must "do" what he is being taughtâ€"he must do what peoâ€" ple preach to him. â€"A famous author once said "I have quit trying to be good, but I have not quit tryâ€" ing to do good." That is the thought. . Cultivate safe habits in the children through safety education. Safety education must, of course, be based on intelliâ€" gence, facts, and ideals, but it must have coupled with that desirable and safe habits. _ The new Chevrolets are on disâ€" play at the Deerpath Garage, Lake Forest Chevrolet dealer. Safety education is a conception of life or a state of mind. It must, however, at the same time create a machine or a thought for buildâ€" ing efficient and safe conduct. at MARCHI BROS.
