OPEN HOUSE FOR FACULTY MEMBERS For years she was a generous patron and constant attendant of winter opera in Chicago and the open air performance at Ravinia. The Hard of Hearing League numâ€" bered her among its active and enâ€" thusiastic members and a lipreadâ€" ing class has often held regular meetings at her home. She has alâ€" ways been interested in young peoâ€" ple, whom she counts among her host of friends. Mrs. Coolidge has lived in Highâ€" land Park for fifteen years, coming here from Evanston where she had resided for a short time following a long residence in Chicago. Her early childhood and girlhood were spent in Cincinnati, where many of her relatives still live Altho obligâ€" ed to remain more closely at home during the past few years, she has continued to direct its management, and has maintained a keen interest in organizations which she is asâ€" sociated with. No date has been set for the wedding. CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY An event of unusual interest to the many friends and admirers of Mrs. H. W. Coolidge will be the open house, which Miss Alice Coolâ€" idge is holding in honor of her mothâ€" er‘s 90th birthday anniversary. The affair is to be held at the family residence 1630 Dean avenue, and nearly one hundred invitations have been issued to it. An open house is being held by the faculties of the Highland Park and Lake Forest high schools Thursday evening, January 13, from 7:30 to 10:30, in the English elub room of the Highland Park high school. Mrs. Coolidge is noted for her strength of character and the reâ€" sources of heart in withstanding the shocks which life has brought her in the loss of her only son, William, and Mr. Coolidge, both of whom died suddenly, and in the reâ€" cent loss of her devoted daughter, Elizabeth Coolidge. Her hospitable home, set in handâ€" some evergreens, has always welâ€" comed those who eagerly came to enjoy the gentle graciousness of their hostess, Mrs. Coolidge.â€"Conâ€" tributed. She is a member of Sigma: Tau Delta, honorary literâ€" ary fraternity, and has contributed to previous issues of Tusitala. WRITES POETRY FOR MAGAZINE Stryker, who is a senior at Lake Forest, has been active in litérary and musical organizations since his entrance. Last year, he was a staff member of the Forester, college yearbook, and served as features editor of the Stentor, campus newsâ€" paper. He is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, honorary literary organâ€" ization, and Pi Alpha Chi, honorâ€" ary musical fraternity. In addition, he sings in the college mixed ocâ€" tette. and chorus, and plays in the band and orchestra. David Stryker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Moraine Hotel Employee Passes On William Mellwain, husband of the late Mary Mcllwain, and a resiâ€" dent of Highland Park for 42 years, died January 6, after a brief illness. Mr. Mellwain was born in Ballyâ€" lisbraiden, union of Newtownards County Down, Ireland, on March 14, 1868. Surviving him are his son Walâ€" lace and grandâ€"daughter Lynn of Evanston, and Mrs. J. L.
