Fort Sheridan Has New Police Force THURSDAY, JANUARY 20, 1988 A police force, consisting of 85 soldiers, â€" came into existence at Fort Sheridan, last Saturday, This is the first time that the Fort has been policed by a regular force, and the plan is said to be unique among military posts of the country. Capt. T. G, Holland, provost marâ€" shal, is in charge and will direct the law enforcement in much the same manner as a civilian police department. The force is divided into five . groups, traffic, prison guard, post guard, investigation and identification, each of which has its separate duties. _ _ . While most of the policing will be confined to Fore Sheridan, a radio equipped ~squad car will cruise "on occasions" to Waukegan to keep soldiers under surveillance. Equipment consists of four cars, two of which are equipped for paâ€" troldetail with a oneâ€"way radio communication system; call boxes and extensive traffic and identificaâ€" tion files. Mrs. Miner Will Devote More Time to Instruction Jan. 31 bridge devotees;"Brsxibfuzine er, widely known authority, will deâ€" wote additional time to .instruction at the second of a series of dupliâ€" cate bridge tournaments in the Parâ€" ish House of Trinity Episcopal church Friday, January 21. At the opening of the series Janâ€" uary 14, several score Highland Park and north shore women launched the tournaments with inâ€" formal play, and expressed the deâ€" gire that major time, in the future tournaments, be devotgd to adâ€" vanced instruction. Roints stressed during the instruction periods will be emphasized and illustrated durâ€" ing the playing of hands, which will follow. Tickets are available for single sessions of the tournaments or for the entire remaining six sessions, according to Mrs, Charles Perrigo, who is in charge of arrangements. Reservations may be made by callâ€" ing Mrs. Perrigo, Highland Park 4333. The tournaments start promptly at 2 o‘clock. Tea will be served.
