Representative Lyons Announces °_ Candidacy For Reâ€"election State Representative Richard J. Lyons, Libertyville Republican, anâ€" nounced today he will be a candidate again for the position of/ represenâ€" tative in the General Assembly for the eighth senatorial district, comâ€" prising the counties of McHenry, Lake and Boone. His announcement set at rest all speculations as to his possible state candidacy for some other position. He has been menâ€" tioned .as a possible candidate for United States Senator from Illinois. THURSDAY, JANUARY 27, 1987 In connection with his announceâ€" ment he will seek reâ€"election as State Representative, Mr. Lyons isâ€" sued the following statement: "I appreciate more than I can tell you the compliment the press and friends from almost every county in Illinois have paid me in suggesting my name for state wide office this year. C It happens, however, that I chose not to attempt a state race, requirâ€" ing as it would, vastly heavier obliâ€" gations than I am capable of disâ€" charging. P Instead, Iâ€"willâ€"askâ€"theâ€"votersâ€"of Liake, McHenry and Boone counties for reâ€"election as Representative in the General Assembly; where, if reâ€" turned, I shall continue my loyal faithfulness to the citizens of this great section, pf Illinois. _ .. . _ _ ‘My services, I believe, will be of greater value at Springfield in view of the economic and political condiâ€" tion of our state. My five terms in the house have placed me in a more or less commanding position where I can better promote the interest of my district. During my incumbence I have alâ€" ways been a staunch Republican, mever bartering my principles or party in any form to a biâ€"partisan deal, of which we have had too much from some sections of the state. 1 have only. one viewpoint; and that is, the betterment of our state and the election of a complete Republiâ€" can ticket to bring that about."
