A widow, who is a good cook, and whom we have, in past winters, had to aid in buying fuel, prep&r®s the hot digh and salâ€" ad or dessert at her home two blocks away, and for this service we:pay her from our created work fund $10.00 per month (the cost of her fuel). Another widow, the mother of two children, serves the lunch and washes the dishes, and for this she receives $20.00 per month. This amount, which supplements that from another source, takes care of her family. Sometimes emergencies speedily met save a life.
