PRIMARIES APRIL 12, 1938 Republican Candidate for Representative 8th Senatorial District Lake â€" McHenry â€" Boone Earnest â€" Energetic Efficient Well, Patsy Noyes‘ mother called me up about a week ago and said I had better come up to Lake Forest to see Patsy, because Patsy looked awfully worried about something, mostly because she was w about the family she was suj ‘ to have sometime during the week. Patsy is a real nice Springer Spanâ€" iel, and all liver and white colored, with a lot of freckles on her nose and chin, and, as are most Springer Spaniels called Patsy, she has been my special friend. Dundee Noyes, Patsy‘s Scotch Terrier sister, also met me at the door when I went up to see them, and barked a doggy welcome as I entered the house. Dundee wasn‘t very worried about anything in particular, though her babies were supposed to come at about the same time as Patsy‘s. Anyway, both Dundee and â€"Patsy finally decided they had better come home with me where it was cool, quiet and comfortable, and where they would have a chance to renew their acquaintances with Blondie, the Cocker Spaniel, Yukon, the Malâ€" amute, and Barbara, the Scotch Terrier, so it wasn‘t long before we had jumped in the car and had whizzed back home. Anyway, we didn‘t do much at all for the next couple of days exâ€" cepting talk and gossip with all the other people and dogs. Patsy was real gla dto see Charlie, whom she had met the last time she was here, and who took special pains to see that she got a little extra supper or the extra bone, while Dundee beâ€" came very much interested in Marâ€" ty, whom she had never seen beâ€" fore. Marty is my new helper, who likes all Scotch Terriers, particuâ€" larly Scotch Terriers named Dunâ€" dee, a fact that Dundee appreciated very much. I was telling Dundee just this morning that it‘s too bad that Marty has a girl in Waukegan, because it doesn‘t look as if she (Dundee) has much of a chance for any permanent affection. A DOG‘S LIFE THE PR E383 +Everybody had just about forâ€" gotten that anyone was going to have any babies, that is, everyone except Patsy and Dundeg, and Blondie and Barbaya and Taffy Meyerhoff, who also are cmu families. Then one night a couple of nights ago Patsy barked for me to hurry up and get a taxi and a doctor and take her to the hospital, because she just knew that it wouldn‘t be long from then, all the while forgetting in the excite, ment, that she didn‘t need a taxi because she was already at the hosâ€" pital, and she didn‘t need a doctor because I was already there, holdâ€" ing her paw and trying to tell her not to be afraid, and things like that. She had probably been readâ€" ing Esquire. Just about that time I heard a lot of noise outside in the corridor and remembered that Salâ€" ty Cole, who is a Springer Spanâ€" iel, just like Patsy, was out there, pacing around in a terrible stew and at an awful rate. I took a few minutes off to go out and ‘tell him the old story about never having lost a father, and then came back to Patsy, who was getting worriedâ€" er and worrieder. Well, to make a long n&ory short, when we finally made her comfortable for the rest of the night, what was left of it, Patsy had had seven blessed events all rolled up in one, and there were seven new babies, four just like 148 South Second Street Tel.
