SURPLUS FOODS ROTARY CLUB Bob Becker of the Chicago Tribâ€" une was the guest speaker at the Deerfield Rotary club on Thursday at their weekly luncheon at Phil Johnson‘s restaurant. His talk was on fishing. In the near future Dr. Preston Bradley of the People"s church, Chicago, is scheduled to adâ€" dress the Rotary club. Relief clients and those receiving Old Age Assistance will receive surplus foods from the federal govâ€" ernment on Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Deerfield Relief office. Commodiâ€" ties to be distributed are potatoes, peas, raisins, prunes, oranges, beans, rice, flour and cabbage. Langhorst of Long Grove and Rev. and Mrs. Paul Winger of Niles Center. Charles A. Selig has retired after 48 years of service for the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul railroad. He has been station agent at the Deerfield depot for forty years. Mr. Seligs‘ successor at the depot is H. H. Sapington, who comes from Pacific Junetion. Mr. and Mrs. William B. Ray are moving back to the city and have subâ€"leased their home at 728 Westâ€" gate road to people from Kansas City. This is the C. W. Getty house. DEERFIELD LOCALS Mrs. Clark Banker (Verene Gunckel) of Jackson, Mich., is visâ€" iting her mother, Mildred Love Gunckel. Mr. and Mrs. Berry Devine and son, Norbit, Mrs. S. S, Love, Mrs. Mildred Gunckel and Mrs. Clark Banker left on Tuesday for & visit with Mr. Devine‘s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martha C. Love was the reâ€" cipient of the Lake Forest Day auâ€" tomobile, a Tudor Ford, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Carl T. Anderson and two children visited at the Ernest Schroeder home in Crystal Lake, Illinois, on Saturday, Rev. and Mrs. Mark Andrews of Harlan, Ky., visited in Deerfield on Thursday. The Rev. Mr. Andrews is a former minister in the Deefield Presbyterian church. The Andrews and their three younger children camped in the Forest Preserve for several days. They will visit in East Lansing, Mich., and in Cleveland, Ohio, and then will motor down the coast to their home in Jacksonville, Florida. The annual picnic meeting of the St. Paul‘s Sewing society will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18.
