LANDAUâ€"VARNER WEDDING The marringe of Miss Ruby Lanâ€" dau and Mr. Cleon Varner will take m Saturday evening at the Presbyterian church, with HVALE FORGE Dr. William F. Weir officiating. It will be a small wedding and guests will be members of the immediate families of the bride and groom. Mrs. Burrel Webster (Ediyn) will be her sister‘s brides maid and Edâ€" win Wolf, husband of her eldest sister, Marian, will serve the groom as best man. Following the cerâ€" emony a reception will be held at the home of the groom‘s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Varner, in Highâ€" fand Park. DEERFIELD LOCALS The inside of the Hvale Forge work shop is pictured in the Chrisâ€" tian Science Monitor issue of April 8, showing Leander Hvale and his son, James, at work. Pictured also is the local blacksmith, Peter Kamâ€" minga, who has his shop with the Hvales. A very attractive weatherâ€" vane, a fire screen, and an estate sign, are shown in detail. Under the caption "Art Finds Expression in Wrought Iron" is the interesting story of the origin of the forge. The first shop was in their home, but now it is a regular shop oppoâ€" site the Deerfleld depot. COMMUNITY CENTER The Deerfleld Community Center, in the store at the north east corâ€" ner of Deerfleld and Waukegan roads is now completed and the doors are open to all. The attracâ€" tive sign in silhouette over the door is the artistic work of the Hvale Forge and designed by James Hvale to represent Deerfleld. ‘The panâ€" orama of the sign shows the deer, trees, the church, the school, homes and the business district in black against the white building. Evergreem trees in blue pots stand on either side of the doorâ€" way and blue awnings shade the large windows. Inside are lovely window draperies, comfortable daâ€" venports, chairs, telephone and soft rugs to make the room a restful place where visitors may meet a friend, or rest after a tour of the shopping district. Travelers stopâ€" ping in the village come in to make inqu‘ry and to learn more of the hospitality of Deerfleld.
