Regular employces of the Post office are William Cruickâ€" shank and Lewis Stryker, CCC ENROLLMENT There will be an enlistment for boys from 17 to 23 years of age for enrollment in the Civilian Conservaâ€" tion Corps camps during the month of January. Boys interested in joining may see their local superviâ€" sor for information, or go to 7 N. County street, Waukegan. There are CCC camps in every state with 1500 camps in operation at the presâ€" ent time. Each camp provides housâ€" ing for 200 enrollees. To be eligible for CCC a young man must be: a citizen of the United States; unemâ€" ployedand in need of employment; not in regular school attendance; beâ€" tween the ages of 17 and 23; unâ€" married; not on probation or parole; not a member of the N-tional Guards; in good physical condition; of good character and stability of purpose. Funeral services for Mrs. Johanâ€" na Arndt Frantz, widow of the late Eli Frantz of Deerfield, were held on Saturday afternoon at Northâ€" brook with burial at North Northâ€" field cemetery. Rev. Fred Deutsche MRS. ELI FRANTZ BURIED SATURDAY of the Lane Park Evangelical church, Chicago, officiated. . Mrs. Frantz, who was 82 years old, was born July 23, 1857, in Koenigsburg, Prussia, Germany, and came to America at the age of 16, with her mothe';(md brother and sister. Mr. Frantz passed away 31 years ago. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edna Kiest of Northbrook, Mrs. Beulah Antes and Mrs. Lillian Lemâ€" mel of Chicago and two sons, Milton and Arno of Deerfield; a halfâ€"sister, Mrs. William Obergfell and a halfâ€" brother, Fred Zerwer, of Chicago; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. During the past few years she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Lemmel. At a special service on Sunday evening, Dec. 17, St. Paul‘s Evanâ€" gelical church received thirtyâ€"five new members. A fellowship hour followed the service at which reâ€" freshments were served, with memâ€" bers of the church council and their wives acting as hosts. The everâ€" greens in front of the church were lit appropriately for the Christmas season, and beautiful flowers adornâ€" ed the altar. The pastor, Rev. F. G. Piepenbrok, gave a message from Luke 9:23, "And He said unto all, if any man would come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me." â€" A.ppliuu'onl for the CCC must be made before January first. Another son, Anâ€" drew Savage, will remain at the Hazel avenue home. Mr. and Mrs. Florian Savage have moved to Arlington Heights. Mr. Savage (Slim) is an instructor at Curtissâ€"Reynolds and at Palâ€" Waukee Airports. _ _ â€" Mrs. Friedel 8. Fuller and son Paul Norman, are leaving next week for Omaha, Nebraska. There they will meet Mrs, Fuller‘s sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Huesâ€" scher of Springview, Neb., who live 400 miles from Omaha. They will be accompanied by Mrs. Fuller‘s mothâ€" er, Mrs. Louisa Schaer of Basle, Switzerland, who has been visiting in Nebraska since September. Mrs. Schaer will return to Deerfleld with Mrs. Fuller. The meeting in Omaha will be the first time in 25 years that all three have been together. The Wilmot Mothers‘ club will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at the school. Their activities for Decemâ€" ber included the Christmas party and treat given for the children last evening at the play. Dr. and Mrs. R. S. Williams of Palatine spent Sunday at the Rusâ€" sell Potterton home on Central aveâ€" nue. The Deerfield Grammar School Puppet club will present their play, "Santa‘s Visit" at the Christmas party for the Highland Park Eastâ€" ern Star chapter on Friday evening, with the following participants: Beatrice Weiss, Lorraine Tuttle, Dorothy Hoffman, Shirley Johnson, Joan Peters, and Jean Briscoe. Miss Marjorie Merrett, of the WPA recâ€" reational project at the school, is the director. Children of Veterans, who live at the Dorcas Home, attended a Legion Auxiliary party at the Lake Forest Legion home on Saturday evening, given for the children of this disâ€" trict. Betty and Maxine Haggie spent the weekâ€"end at the home of their father, Leslie Haggie, in Evanston. On Sunday the Fred Haggies visited their son, Leslie, and attended the Christmas pageant at the First Methodist church, in Evanston. Mrs. Frances Diebert will be hostâ€" ess to members of her bridge club on Thursday afternoon at her home on Fair Oaks avenue. Mrs. Lester Marshall is returning home this week from the Lake County _ hospital in â€" Waukegan, where she underwent an operation, The fire department was called out Friday evening to the E. J. Hyett home on Osterman avenue, when theiy chimney caught fire. There was no damage. On Monday they extinguished a blaze in the rear seat of the auto of William R. Mitâ€" chell, local real estate broker, in front of his home on Haze] avenue. The upholstering on the rear seat burned, and the damage is about $25.00. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Johnson of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Petersen of Wilmette _ were Sunday _ dinner guests at the Carl E. Olson home on Greenwood avenue. Mrs. C. W. Boyle attended the fuâ€" neral of her father, George Park, in Glencoe on Wednesday. Mrs. Ben Siljestrom will attend a Christmas party this evening at the Joseph Reubens home in Highland Park. Mrs. Leslie Brand entertained on Monday at her home on Brand lane, in honor of the 82nd birthday anniâ€" versary of her motherâ€"inâ€"law,Mrs. George L. Brand. Mrs. Floyd Stanger was hostess to members of the Mutual club on Wednesday evening at her home on Forest avenue. The women made gifts for the shutâ€"ins to be distribâ€" uted at Christmas. The Christmas party of the Conâ€" tract club will be held on Thursday, Dec. 28, at the home of Mrs. Carl T. Anderson in Highland Park. Nelson is president. The main intersection of Deerâ€" field, with the many colored lights strung crossâ€"wise, over the streets, gives Deerfleld a real spirit of Christmas appearance. Cassius Easton Jr. is attending Miss Edna West‘s school at Antioch. Mrs. Jack Coleman will be hosteis at a Christmas party this evening for members of her 500 club. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ludiow of Wilmette visited at the Edward Ludlow Jr home on Greenwood aveâ€" nue on Sunday. The senior Mr. Ludâ€" low also visited his cousin,* Mrs. Martha Carroll Love. Harry Clavey donated two eight foot Christmas trees for the Deerâ€" field Grammar school auditorium, in addition to three trees for the class rooms of his children. Mr. Clavey‘s company, the Ravinia Nurseries, also donated the Wilmot school trees and those at St. Paul‘s church. These very generous gestures made many children very happy. The executive committee, composâ€" ed of the officers and delegates of the West Deerfield Township Young Republicans club will hold a special meeting on Wednesday evening, Dec. 27, to complete plans for the selecting of chairmen for the variâ€" ous committees. At present only one appointment has been made, that of publicity chairman, Arthur G. Pearâ€" son. Erwin Seago is head of the local G.O.P.
