Lawrence â€" Pfeiffer won the men‘s singles, but it took him five games to do it when he deâ€" feated Jack Shapiro, last year‘s champion. After zigzagging back and forth in which Shapiro won the first and third games, Pfeiffer finalâ€" ly took the lead in the fifth game with his last serve giving him a score of 18â€"12. This match was by far one of the best exhibitions of pingâ€"pong local enthusiasts have seen in many years.
