To Hold Book Sale New Shades Installed The front of the Deerfield Gramâ€" mar school was dressed up considâ€" erably lakt week by the installation of new.nnn shades in the north class rooms of the building. These shades were placed for a dual purâ€" pose: first, to reduce the ‘glare in the class rooms; secondly, to dress up the appearance of the building. The installation of shades completes a project started last year for the improvement of physical conditions in the school. . As a part of this program all class rooms have now been delightâ€" ed, the ceilings and upper walls have been repainted, and new roller shades have been placed in all class rooms. > it In order to complete their: work the cighth grade boys assembled these desks and have made the necâ€" essary adjustments in order to place them in use. The eighth grade girls have waxed these desks and are taking the responsibility of keeping them in shining condition. So gone are the old days when desks were marked up, because woe be to the boys or girls who. puts a mark on the desks that these cighth graders purchased. It‘s a lone cry from the desk and school of yesâ€" terday. A committee of 8th grade boys and girls studied different kinds of seats and visited other schools where new seats were in .use. On the basis of this investigation they. met with the Board of Education and a unit was decided upon. The eighth grade then carrying this through in drawing up the contract anllut week the 40 new seats were delivâ€" A unique proect was completed when the eighth grade boys and girls put into use their new desks. The boys and girls of the eighth grade purchased the desks by means of funds raised overa period of years. Further funds are being raised to complete payment.
