On behalf of the Highland Park Traffic Commission, I wish to con- gratulate the City of Highland Park, and particularly Mr. V. C. Musser, City Clerk, for the excellent publica- The Honorable Mayor Ronan and Commissioners, Highland Park, Illinois. Gentlemen: The new traffic code has been pub- lished under the direction of Victor Musser, City Clerk who has also prepared a cross index which is in- cluded. Through this index anyone may easily locate all ordinances cov- ering or pertaining to any traffic mat- ter. Copies are being sent to all Highland Park organizations and ad- ditional copies may be had at the City Hall Building or Public Library. The following letter of commenda- tion was sent to the Mayor and Com- missioners of the City of Highland Park. The new model traffic code which has had the approval of the National Safety Council, the State of Illinois and a number of leading experts, ac- cording to Mr. Gilroy should do much to facilitate safety'and the new com- mission will establish an efficient means of administering and clearing all problems which may arise. Mr, Gilroy states that all communications should be addressed to Mr. Harry Peru, Sec'y. Traffic Commission, City Hall Building, Highland Park, Illinois. In addition to continuing to further the community safety program of the Citizens Safety Committee, the new commission will act " an investi- gating and fact finding body in safety matters. They will serve " a group to whom the community may direct inquiries, complaints and suggestions. All such communications will be act- ed upon and where investigation and circumstances warrant recommenda- tions will be made to the city council to whom it is the duty of the com- mission to report monthly. The new commission is composed of seven members, four of whom are appointed by the city administration and three of whom are city officials. Edwin L. Gilroy was elected chair- man. Harry Aiston, .vice chairman and Harry Peru. secretary. The other members include Herbert H. Bowker of Braeside who was appointed for four years, Commissioner Arthur Swanson, Philip E. Cole, City and Traffic Engineer and' Chief of Police Rex Andrews. Assume Duties of Citizens Safety Committee.
