Francis Bowditch, the new headmaster. Ernest Palmer ‘03 of Springfield will be the toastmaster, and speakâ€" Quill and Dagger, senior honorâ€" ary society at Cornell, whose memâ€" bership is based on participation in extraâ€"curricular activities, recently elected 23 seniors for the academic year 1941â€"42. Among them is Peter MacPherson Wolff, administrative engineering, of 1300 Wade st., Highâ€" land Park. Dorothy Burnham ,575 Central ave., was recently elected president of the Lake Forest college chapter of Phi Sigma Iota, national honor society for students of romance lanâ€" guages. A junior at the college, Miss Burnham is also a member of Alpha, Lambda Delta, national scolâ€" astic honor fraternity for women, of the orchestra and the Women‘s Athletic association. Mrs. Claburn Jones is in charge of saleswomen for the plants that day and Mrs. James Lytle is chairâ€" man of those who will check the plants in. + Publicity is being handled by Mrs. Hugh Riddle. One of the most festive aspects of the fair is the food table under the chairmanship of Mrs. Gerald Stome. Children and adults alike enjoy the picnic lunch of sandâ€" wiches, cake, cookies, coffee and chocolate milk. Popcorn balls are to be an added feature this year. Ruth Sloan, a senior at Highland Park hig school has been awarded the annual Girls club scholarship of $200. She plans to attend the Illiâ€" nois State Normal college. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Yowell, who spent the winter in California and Texas, have returned to Highland Park for the summer. Bill Mecham has been awarded a scholarship by the Freshman Scholâ€" arship committee at Yale universâ€" ity. This is the largest single grant ever received by a Highland Park boy. It was awarded for his outstanding scholarship, student council work and participation in other school activities. & Among the selectees stationed at Camp Croft, S. C., are Privates Peâ€" ter Murphy, Richard Lederer, and Art Baldauf, of Highland Park, and Private Sargo Digani of Highwood. Digani has been assigned to Comâ€" pany 4 of the 37th training batâ€" talion. Murphy and Leoderer are with Company B, and Baldauf with Company C of the 38th. These men were sent here from the recption center at Fort Sheridan, Ill., ten days ago with approximately 500 young men from that state. Their training here will consist of the baâ€" sic material in which all infantry replacements are instructed. _ At the conclusion of that course /they will be assigned to various regular army units in different parts of the country for thé remainder of their service period. Miss Betty Ann Johnson, ‘41, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald C. Johnson of Lakeside place, is one of the group of dancers who will present the original dance drama deâ€" picting the growth of the American spirit, introducing the May court and queen, at Skidmore college, this week end.
