GSO Will Meet July 9 Al groups of the Highland Park Girls‘ Service Organization of the U.S.0. will meet at the Y.W.C.A., 374 Laurel avenue, on Friday evening, July 9 at 7:30 p.m As this is the first meting of all groups since April, the attendance of each member is urged. Peddle is in the last phake of bombardier training at Big Spring, Texas,. He expects to receive his wings and commission as second lieutenant on July 15. Cadet Peddle is one of a group of four in his class to average more than twice the number of hits made by the general student. Three sons of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. James Channon Bowes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome P. Bowes Jr. has reâ€" ceived his appointment to the United States Naval academy at Annapolis through Sen. Scott Lucas, and has started the accelerated â€" threeâ€"year course which will win him a commisâ€" sion ef ensign. Midshipman Bowes attended Highâ€" land Park high school, Culver Miliâ€" tary Academy, and prepared for Annaâ€" polis at Bullis school, in Washington. Stansfield Turner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver S. Turner of N. Deere Park drive, has received his appointâ€" ment to Annapolis at the recommendaâ€" tion of Representative Stephen A. Day and took his midshipman ocath on June Voted the outstanding student of the 1941 graduating class at Highland Park high school, he attended Ambherst colâ€" lege whiere he was a member of the Sphine Honorary society. He would have cdmpleted his junior year at Amâ€" kerst in September. John B. Clavey has been promoted to private, first class. He was recently transferred from Atlantic City, N.J. to the Agriculture college in Fargo, N.D. where he is attending the adminâ€" istrative school of the army air corps.
