44 Page 4 U. N. TO HEAR CARROLL BINDER Viewpoints of the United States on freedom of the press will be the topic used by Carroll Binder, when he speaks before the United Nations this spring. Mr. Binder, former director of the Chicago Daily News Foreign Service, is now editorial editor of the Minneâ€" apolis Tribune. The Binders forâ€" merly lived in Ravinia. He has been nominated by Warren R. Austin, chief U. S. delegate to the U. N., as the American member of the subcommission on freedom of information. Mr. Binder is th¢ only American nominee for election by the Comâ€" mission on Human Rights and thus will be the American spokesman when the subcommission meets at Lake Success in May. ATTENDS PRESS CONFERENCE IN NEW YORK CITY Mrs. J. V. Spachner of Oakâ€" mont road, whose Florida vacaâ€" tion was interrupted when she was called to New York to attend m press conference, has returned home. Mrs. Spachner, viceâ€"presiâ€" dent and chairman in charge of music of the Goethe Biâ€"Centenâ€" niel Foundation, spent a week in New York attending conferences, which were held at the Waldorf. Mr. Spachner left for Florida to be with their daughter, Carole, who was vacationing with her mother, when Mrs. Spachner was called East. After a few days at Miami Beach, he and his daughter returned home.
