Springfield, II1, May 19â€"Secreâ€" tary. of Staté Edward J. Barrett has announced a change, effective immediately, in the processing of state driver licenses, In the future data on the license will be in white on a black background. At present, the wording appears in â€"black on a white card. The change, Mr. Barrett said, was made for purposes of efficiâ€" ency and to lessen the opportunity for fraudulent use of licenses. The new process will eliminate a comâ€" plete work operation and speed up issuance of licenses. _ ~ .: pit The black on white card has in the past, according to law enforceâ€" ment dfficers, made it easy for minors to change the data to adâ€" vance their age and many crimâ€" inals found it convenient for the purpose of concealing their idenâ€" tity. A white on ‘a black card is expected to make it almost imâ€" possible to alter the new license.
