President This is one time your vote means somi 1ST O primary in the history -*^of Illinois has meant more to all the' people of the United States than the Presidential Preference Primary this year. The names of two men are before you, and you are asked * top maks your choice between them --.which of them you think should be -President of the United State#* YOU are aslced to do this, not by your vote for delegates, but by recording your 'judgment so that the country may know what you think. Stripped of all else, this is the meaning (of the Illinois Primary .this time, so far as the country *is concerned. Now stop and think what manner of man should have your voice in such a time as this --perhaps the most trying time in our history --the world seething with unrest, suspicion, bitterness--a tijme of danger. Is it not true that we need a man in whose steadiness of purpose, in whose steadfastness of mind, and in whose courage we can trust? Do we want a politician merely -- a man of compromise or do we watft a man as much like Lincoln and Roosevelt as we can feet? A man fearless and honest; a man whose character stands out as a strong, earnest, understandable American. A man who has c!one things. A man who is unafraid. A man who knows what he wants to da and then does it. If you a&ree with this -- then you will &ive yotir voice and vote for Leonard Wood because you know what kind of man he is and what he has done. He is more than a soldier he is an executive; an administrator; an organizer and a statesman. He has proved his constructive ability. As Governor-General of Cuba and later, in tfye Philippines, he directed the acts of hundreds of thousands of human beinfes, made them happy and orderly, trailt model schools, established new hpspilals, abolished profiteering, developed industry, rehabilitated agriculture, established justice in, the courts, and out of chaos developed in a few years \me of the contented, prosperous nations of 'the world. 1 No lew a man could have done these things. There are other pood men and true, but there * no other man before the people who measure* up to the need of the time as does Leonard Wood, t He is a Republican.. He is a man of the people and for the people---all the people. This is once, at least, that your voice at the primary will be heeded. This is one time your vote means something. The Freshman boys are struggling bravely with the "Lady of the Lake." Josephine Olson returned to school Monday after several weeks of.*^ sence. z} 'f \ Sopheaere Natw Only fifty nor* days of sdiool. Everyone is preparing for the exams. Glenn Peterson absent from school Friday. Anyone wanting a recipe for vinegar ask Arline Harrison. A certain sophomore boy thiaks that the most interesting Sir Roger De Coverly Paper is Sir Roger's death. New fad among the sophomores-- throwing apple peelings over their shoulders, bat they are not superstitious. A debate was held by the English II class Friday. The question for debate was Resolved" that all boys should be compelled to study the elements of domestic science. Junior Notes Some classes are too dull, Some classes are too brigfct, But we think the junior class Is just about right. Why is Jennie Mae so taken up with art when it isn't taught in Mc- Henry high school? Does, anyone know the inducements which force all the junior boys to take front seats in English III? Our basket ball boys are getting ready for the county tournament to be held at Crystal Lake Mar. 25-26. Everyone in the ' junior class turned out to the game Friday night and did their share of rooting for the boys. Why don't the rest of the classes follow our example? No one likes to write school notes but the juniors, no one likes to sing but the juniors, no one likes to study but the juniors. With what harmony our school would run if we were all juniors. ' Senior Program The senior class went back three years and gave a program that was typical of their freshman days. Everything that was given was original. Irene Conway and Jennie Mae Cooley being the poets of the class wrote the words of the songs. The program was given as follows: Address President Class Song Class Essay on St. Patrick Kathleen O'Reilly Piano Solo ......... .Clarence Niesen Song Senior Girls ,..Prank Doherty .......Mary Smith Class Trials of a Freshman.
