McHeAry's battery was composed of Sahlberg and Warner, while Bmilsford took' care of the left garden. With these three men in the line-up the McHenry outfit exhibited more "pep" than had previously been displayed by the team this season. "Sally" lookef good on the mound and he appeared to be just as good as ever and, while his support was a bit wobbly at times, he was never in real danger and appeared to be taking things easy thruout the entire contest. The locals, alter tht first two innings, seemed! to take particular delight in slamming out Williams' offerings. He was removed in the seventh after Warner had gleaned a single off his delivery and rode home on Brailsford's four-ply smash to left field. Anderson, who succeeded him, held McHenry the balance of the way and during the two rounds in which he occupied the hill he fanned five of McHenry's batsmen. Besides Sahlberg's pitching, Bolger's fielding in the center garden featured the contest. Bolger grabbed in four drives, each of which required some fast sprinting. The afternoon's proceedings were started by Ross, who singled to center and was then caught off of first and run to death between the two bags, Sahlberg, Meyers and Knox executing the play. Doyle and Moser both went out via the strike-out route. One hit, no runs. McHenry: Michels walked and was on his way to second on a hit and run signal when Knox fouled to H. Smith, who had plenty of time to double "Bobby" at the initial sack. Warner sent a double to left, while Brailsford stopped one of Williams' fast ones with his ribs. Meyers skied to Sehell. One hit, no runs. ^ Second inning: J. Smith struck out. H. Smth laced a pretty single past first and stole second. Sahlberg tried to get the runner off his guard and the throw got away from Huck, while Bolger also let the pill slip past him, the two errors allowing the runner to reach home. Schell struck out. j Lan^e singled past second. Bolger ! made a pretty running catch of FoehFs.fly. Two hits, one run. McHenry: Bolger was thrown out by Foehl. Rossman find Huck both fanned. No hits, no runs. Third inning: Williams grounded to Knox, but the latter's throw to first was bad and the runner went all the way to second before stopping. Ross fanned, Doyle was thrown out by Huck and Moser skied to Belger. No hits, no runs. McHenry: Sahlberg skied to Moser at short as did Michels. Knox was given life when Ross dropped his fly in left. "Bobby" stole second and scampered home with McHenry's first run on Moser's error of Warner's grounder. Warner took second on the throw to the plate. Brailsford fouled to Schell. No hits, one run. I Fourth inning: J. Smith was retired by Sahlberg and Meyers. Bolger copped H. Smith's drive to center and Schell was thrown out by Huck. No hits, no runs. McHenry: M. Meyers lifted a high fly to Ross in left. Bolger was safe on Doyle's error, but was forced at second when Rossman hit to Foehl. Huck sent Rossman to second on a single past third. Sahlberg singled to right and Rossman came home, while Huck stopped at third. Michels skied to Ti Smith in center. Two hits, one run. Fifth inning: Lange lifted a high l fly to Brailsford in left. Foehl was thrown out by Michels and Knox killed Williams at first. No hits, no runs. McHenry ^ Knox singled to. left. Warner hit to Williams, who made a bum peg to second in his attempt to force Knox, the latter going to third while Doyle was trying to make up his mind whether or not to pick up the pill which had rolled only a few feet away. Warner stole second. Meyers lifted an easy fly to Doyle. Bolger shot a single past short, on which the two men ahead of him scored. Bolger was caught stealing. Two hits, two runs. Sixth inning: Ross and Doyle both whifffed. Moser was safe oh Brailsford's error and J. Smith went out on a pop-up to Meyers. No hits, no runs. THUK«OAY. Game Next Sunday The baseball fans have been talking about the coming game all week and when Johnsburg appears in McHenry next Sunday afternoon there is expected to be on hand the largest crowd of baseball "bugs" that has gathered at any game in McHenry county this year. Johnsburg will come to McHenry backed with all sorts of confidence as well as two hundred or more fans, who, unless we have been misinformed, are willing to back their favorite team to the extent of numerous dollarp. Twica before this season these two teams have met and on each occasion Johnsburg has been returned the victor. Judging from this the odds favor Johnsburg in the coming match/altho the McHenry players are £oing into the game next Sunday with blood in their eyes. The boys feel that they are the equal of Johnsburg and with an even break in luck should win this game. The locals have demonstrated all season that they can hit any sort of pitching, so have little fear for Johnsburg's slabbing star. Rossman is still nursing the sting of the two defeats handed him by the Johns burg crew earlier in the season and is anxious for. another whack at them. He still believes that he is capable, with good support, of trimming the Johnsburg lads. The big noise starts promptly at 2:30 o'clock and no man, woman or child who loves baseball can afford to miss this contest. Donald Givens is enjoying a week's vacation from his duties at the Wilbur Lumber company yards here.
