"McHenry County, Illinois, met in special session, pursuant to a request signed by more than one third of its members, at the court house in the city of Woodstock on Monday the 26th day •I April, A. D 1920, at 10 o'clock a. in The meeting was called to order by tho clerk and the roll being called the following members responded to their names, to-wit: H. H. Barker, D M. Wright, W. H. Ward. H. G. Durkee, 12. •C- Hughes, E. F. Kuecker, Chas. H. Ackman, John Conley, F. A. Walters, L. W. Thompson, H M. Turner, F. B. Mo- Connell, 1?, G, Hoffman, S. H. Freund, and A. H. Hale constituting a quorum. First in order being the election of a chairman for the ensuing year Supr "" Hale placed in nomination S H. Freund supervisor of the Township of McHenry.; said nomination was seconded by Supr. j Walters and there being no further; nominations S. H. Freund was . unanimously elected chairman for the ensuing year. i The result of the election being an-1 nounced M,r. Freund approached the | chairman's desk and thanked the mem- j bers for the honor conferred upon him j and assured the board that he would give his best efforts in that capacity. j The records of the last preceeding j meeting 'were read and on motion ap- i proved. It was moved by Supr. Wright that the same rules adopted by the board for the management of its business for the past year be adopted as the rules of the board to govern its action for the ensuing year; that the samp standing committees, and the same number on each committee be selected .as the working force of this board for Mie current year, and that the present standing committees transact the business of the County at this meeting.' Said motion was duly seconded and carried. The clerk presented lists of claims against the County, and on motion same were referred to the proper committees for report without reading and tho boar* adjourned to 1:30 .p. m. *ttr committee work. isaof.m. Gafke, representing the McHenry County Soil Improvement association presented an itemised report of the financial affairs of the said association for the past year whtch report was read ana on motion placed on file. Supr. Turner presented the following resolution and moved its adoption, to- Wit: Whereas it appears that numerous and divers persons haw demoved from McHenry county, subsequent to the assessment of 1919 and prior to the Issuance of warrant to the County Treasurer for the collection of various personal taxes, and that said persons ar« believed to be still residents of the State of Illinois, therefore be it Resolved by the Board of Supervisors of McHenry County, now in session that upon the learning of the present residence of such delinquent taxpayers, by the County Treasurer, and upon his request. the County Clerk be. and he hereby is, instructed to issue a warrant, according to law, directed to the proper authorities, commanding such authorities to proceed to collect such personal tax from said deliquent taxpayer designated by the said County Treasurer. Said motion to adopt Was seconded and the resolution unanimously adopted. The clerk presented vouchers drawn by him in payment of State Aid road work done as directed, the drawing of which was approved. The Highway commissioner of the Town of Hartland presented the following petition for the building of a bridge in said town, to-wit: To the Board of Supervisors of ths County McHenry, in the State of • Illinois: . Gentlemen: The undersigned Commissioner of Highways of the Town of Hartland in said County,, would respectfully represent that the Bridge across a branch of the Nuppersink Creek on a public highway leading from Woodstock to Hartland and located on the section line between sections 25 and 26 in said Town is unsafe and needs to be replaced by a new bridge for which work the said Town' of Hartland is responsible: that the total cost of said bridge will be one thousand four hundred dollars ($1,400); that the said population of said Town is less than 16.000; that the cost of aaid bridge will be more than eight cents on the one hundred dollars on the latest assessment roll; and that the levy of the road and bridge tax for two years passed in said Town was In each year for the full amount allowed by law to be raised therein for all road and bridge purposes except for damages incurred in laying out, altering, widening, or vacating roads, or for ditches to drain roads, the whole of which levy is needed for the ordinary repair of ths roads and bridges in said Town. WHEREFORE, the said Commissioner of Highways hereby petitions your honorable board to appropriate from the County Treasurer a sufficient sum to meet the cost of said bridge and that you direct the Superintendent of Highways of said County to prepare plans and specifications for said improvement. Wright, the following named supervisors were appointed to represent the county in the matter of building said, bridge, W H. Ward, E. F. Kuecker and C. H. Ackman. It having been called to the attention of the ch;iir that Supr. Harrison, a member of the special committee representing the Tounty in the building of the Cole bridge was no longer a member of this board, Supr. Frank B. McConnell was appointed on said committee in his place. It also appearing that L. B. Covell was a member of the committee representing the County In the building of the Cash bridge In Alden, and is no longer a member of this board, the chair appointed Supr. L. W. Thompson, in his place. The special committee on Cole bridge in Burton Township made the following report which was oa motion adopted, to-wit: To the Board of Supervisors of the County of McHenry in the State of Illinois: Gentlemen: Your committee to whom was referred the matter of constructing a new bridge at the site known as Coles Bridge in section 30 in the Town of Burton, McHenry County, Illinois, would beg leave to make the following report on the matters before them. That the south abutment of said bridge is now completed substantially in accordance with the plans, specifications and contract. That the contract price for said bridge is the sum of $9,850 and that the value of the completed work and material is $2700; and that by the law tho contractor is entitled to a payment not exceeding 90 per cent of the value of completed work. We therefore recommend that the Connty Clerk draw an order in favor of the Joliet Bridge and Construction company for the sum of $2,430 which said sum is 90 per cent of tho estimated value of said completed work.
