The entertainment will .be opened with a bag punching exhibition by Lester Bacon of this village, who at one time traveled as a side show &ttpafctioa wi&h the flagenbach^Wa^lace circus. The eve^ng's second attraction will be a four round bout between Kid Garrison of Pox Lake and "Mundy" Barbian, a local boy. Kid Garrison, whose fighting weight is 130 pounds, is considered one of the best in his class in these parts, having had considerable ring experience. "Mundy" Barbian has been selected by the McHenry faHis as a worthy opponent for the Fox Lake lad and the fans look forward to a re&t lively set-to when these two youngsters climb into the ring. The thi.-d number of the evening's card will be a si* round bout between Soldier Meyers of this village and "Ding" Newman, a fornjer McHenvy boy, but now residing at Rocfcford. Soldier Meyers left McHenry several years ago to join the U. S. army and after his return fom overseas duties he was for some time stationed in the West. Since his discharge from service he has returned to this village and this will be his first opportunity to display to his friends just how much he has learned about the art of manly defense. According to his friends he is a veteran of many ring battles and in vierw of the training Newman has had along these lines during the past few years it looks as if this bout should keep the fans on their toes. * • A* a closing number the promoters of the show have secured a match between "Red" 0'Brian of Woodstock and Curly Zurke of Elgin in a wrestling exhibition that gives promise of terminating into a real battle. The Woodstock man is, without doubt, the very best for his weight in the game today, but those who have seen the Elgin lad in action are of the opinion that "Red" will have to exert himself to the limit in order to throw his man. All in all the above card looks like a real one and, no doubt, Will bring out a crowded house. Tickets for the show are now on sale at the West McHenry State bank. Smith's pool room, Vogt's drug store, McGee & Conway's, Geier*s pool hall and the McHenry House. An invitation is extended to everyone and ladies will be shown every courtesy and consideration. v 3K*LINOig HOLSTEIN DAt ; T« Be Held at Dixon on TharndUiy of Next Week, Dec. 29 VV/ f'jAcOURTESY 4-SJNCREASING HELPFULNESS this community to take on increased effi- - ciency--to cooperate in every practical ^ project in making this a better community in whidf to live--to cause every individual entering ou|3t|^ doors to feel a cordial atmosphere--tc encourage ambitious person of integrity to furthei TO HELP. At this time they will formally open their A. R. 0. testing plant at Dixon and will have their annual meeting. This testing plant is the first of the kind to be started. It consists of two new barns, one 100x36 and one 210x 32 feet, and a dairy building 30x14, modern in every respect. These buildings will accommodate sixty cows in box stalls. Each cow will liave her individual water basin, hay manger and curry comb and brush. The cows will be milked four times a day thruout the year. About half the cows will be ia the barn at the time of the meeting. The program will consist of a visit to the plant in the morning, back in Dixon at 12:00 o'clock and the business meeting immediately after. Then will follow the program, for which Governor Lowden and Dairy Commissioner Barney of Iowa have been invited. Field Secretary Lobg of the Hotstein association reports that delegations from the following counties have reported they would be present: Whiteside, Carroll, DeKalb, Kane, Boone, Lake, Cook, LaSalle and Du- Page. Some of i the counties are organizing tours to attend. It is hoped the rbreeders of the county will be well -represented. It will certainly pay them to go and see these fine cows and meet their fellow breeders. Let's help make Illinois Holstein day •. success. Walsh of this village took the time to call on our former esteemed resident, John R. Brents, who for some time past has been at the soldiers' home there. Mr. Walsh found Mr. Brents in fine spirits and apparently in a fair state of health. However, like all of us, John is growing old. Needless to say that he was very much delighted with Mr. Walsh's call. An occasional post card from his McHenry friendp would be, deeply Hani; appreciated, we are sure. . Administrator's Notice Wm.
