St. John the Baptist, patron saint of our chunch, was celebrated this week Tuesday with a solemn high mass at 10:00 o'clock. The Rev. Father John Schmitt of Aurora read the mass. Rev. Father Weber, pastor of the church, and another strange priest assisted at mass. A beautiful sermon on "The Life of St. John," was render ed by the strange priest, which was very interesting. He. also mentioned the fact that Rev. Father John Schmitt's silver 'jubilee was on this day. The services were closed with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The three priests intoned the Te Deum and the choir joined in. ST. JOHN'S CHURCH The order of- services at St. John's Catholic church on Sunday during the summer months are as follows: The low masses: 7:46 and 10:00 a. m. RECITAL AT AUDITORIUM ATTRACTS LARGE AUDIENCE A musical treat of more than^usual merit was presented at the high school auditorium in this city on Wednesday evening of last week, when the pupils of Miss Mabel^Kanka and Prof. W. N. Sears appeared in their annual recital. The program as printed in this paper last week was carried out in its entirety, each number being well received by the large audience present. The skill with which each number was rendered evidenced the thoro training received frohi these capablo instructors, U>th being very popular in th<* music* world, pdiss Kanka and Mr. Soars have been instructing classes in "music here for a number of years and their annual recitals are always looked forward to with great pleasure.
